The Lake in the Hills Police Department issued 30 tickets over 27 hours of additional enforcement conducted as part of a statewide campaign aimed at curbing drunken driving and seat belt infractions around the Thanksgiving holiday.
The extra patrols ran from
Nov. 20 to 30 and resulted in 34 additional vehicles being pulled over, according to a news release.
Among the 30 tickets issued, 12 were for not wearing seat belts, 15 for speeding, one for a cellphone violation and two for driving without insurance. The department did not stop any impaired drivers during these patrols.
The mobilization was funded by federal highway safety dollars administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
