The monthly Oswego satellite location of the Kendall County Community Food Pantry has moved from East View Academy on Route 71 to the former Traughber Junior High School, 61 Franklin Street.
The Oswego School District 308 Board of Education approved the satellite location in partnership with the food pantry at a meeting Aug. 31.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the satellite location is functioning as a drive-up facility for the first several months of the program.
The first pantry was held from the former junior high school on Friday, Dec. 4.
The pantry is open to those with a need for supplemental food within the boundaries of OSD 308 or those with a Kendall County zip code.
The satellite site first opened in early November at East View Academy, 4175 Route 71, but traffic backed-up on Route 71 through the Wolf's Crossing intersection. A soft opening was held in late October, serving about 60 cars, and the Nov. 6 pantry served an estimated 100 cars within the first 40 minutes.
The satellite location will operate the first Friday of every month, continuing with Jan. 1.
