Bears outside linebacker Khalil Mack sat out practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury.
Mack has dealt with numerous injuries this season, but has yet to miss a game. Bears head coach Matt Nagy said the Pro Bowl linebacker is currently day-to-day. He said the injury occurred Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
“It was just a little bit of some different times in [Sunday’s] game where he got hit and then you get to a point where you want to make sure, especially right now at this part of the season, that you want to take care of him,” Nagy said. “We obviously need him. That’s why he’s day-to-day right now.”
Defensive back Buster Skrine (concussion), outside linebacker James Vaughters (knee) and receiver Darnell Mooney (personal reasons) also missed practice Wednesday ahead of this week’s game against the Houston Texans.
Tight end and special teams player J.P. Holtz (shoulder/knee), left tackle Charles Leno (toe) and receiver Allen Robinson (knee) were all limited participants in practice Wednesday.
Tight end Jimmy Graham, defensive tackle Akiem Hicks and linebacker Danny Trevathan sat out practice to rest.
Additionally, the Bears placed three practice squad players on the reserve/COVID-19 list over the previous three days: defensive tackle LaCale London, linebacker Manti Te’o and receiver Thomas Ives.
“We’ve just got to continue each and every day, going by the rules, wearing our masks,” Nagy said. “And when you’re outside of this bubble, around everybody else, just trying to be as cautious as possible.”
