The Sauk Valley reported three deaths and 98 new coronavirus cases Wednesday.
Lee County announced three new deaths of a man in his 70s and a man and woman in their 80s. There were also 23 new cases with three teens, two in their 20s, five in their 30s, three in their 40s, five in their 50s, three in their 60s, and two in their 70s, as well as 330 new recoveries for a total of 2,099 cases, 36 deaths and 1,626 recoveries.
The large number of recoveries came from catching up on cases from area nursing homes and the Dixon Correctional Center.
Whiteside County had 25 new cases with six younger than 20, four in their 20s, four in their 30s, three in their 40s, two in their 50s, four in their 70s and two 80 or older as well as 150 new recoveries totaling 4,233 cases, 102 deaths and 2,376 recoveries.
Ogle County reported 39 new cases totaling 3,251 cases, 44 deaths and 2,545 recoveries.
Carroll County had 11 new cases with one child, two teens, one in his or her 20s, two in their 30s, two in their 40s and three in their 50s, 60s and 80s for a total of 1,184 cases and 27 deaths.
The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen zero consecutive days under 12% positivity. The region's positivity rate decreased to 14.6%. Currently, 24.1% of medical/surgical beds are available and 22.2% of ICU beds.
The region has 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Region 1 has a rolling, seven-day average of 232 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.
Within this region, DeKalb County's positivity rate stayed the same at 13.8%, Lee County's rate increased to 14.8%, and Whiteside County's rate increased to 13.5%.
Within the region, there are 33 available, staffed ICU beds out of 179 total, a decrease of 10 from Tuesday.
Illinois announced 8,256 new cases and 179 cases totaling 812,430 cases with 13,666 deaths.
