The Providence Catholic Women's Club has spent 2020 trying to find ways to keep moms connected.
Recently, the club held a painting night that was coordinated by Creative Expressions Galena. The Zoom event had more than 30 of the club's members join to have a holiday board painting activity.
"Our goal was to be able to do it in person, but as the event got closer, and how Providence has been wonderful keeping kids in school, there was a two week break before Thanksgiving," Club Co-Chair Chris Bird said. "So we felt that it wasn't in our best interest to hold an in-person event when the kids couldn't be in school."
Creative Expressions Galena delivered the boards and Bird and Tracy Hamilton delivered all the boards to the club members.
"It ran really well all things considered," Bird said. "Creative Expressions were really good (in running the event). A lot of women liked it. We're going to do another Zoom event, but hopefully we can do it in person."
The Women's Club does fundraising efforts for the school.
Event wise, it doesn't have anything planned until January and is currently planning on a virtual fundraiser, as well.
Every woman that has a student in Providence — mother, grand mother, aunt, — are automatically a member. The club has former students' families reaching out as well.
