Six deaths Tuesday in the Sauk Valley, five in Lee, one in Ogle, county health departments report

The Whiteside County Health Department announced 35 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, along with 90 recoveries. The new cases involved five people younger than 20, eight in their 20s, five in their 40s, nine in their 50s, two in their 60s, two in their 70s and two older than 80.

The Lee County Unified team announced five COVID-related deaths Tuesday involving one woman older than 100, one in her 80s, two in their 70s and a man in his 60s. Lee County also announced 19 new cases Tuesday, one of which was from Liberty Court. There also were 24 recoveries. The new cases involved one teen, two people in their 20s, two in their 30s, four in their 40s, three in their 50s and six in their 60s.

Ogle County reported the COVID-related death of a man in his 60s. The county also had 27 new cases and 41 recoveries.

Whiteside County has had 4,404 cases, 3,015 recoveries and 110 deaths. Lee County has had 2,262 cases, 1,730 recoveries and 46 deaths. Ogle County has had 3,487 cases, 2,798 recoveries and 49 deaths. Carroll County, which did not report updated data on Tuesday, has had 1,222 cases, 1,154 recoveries and 28 deaths.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen 2 consecutive days under the 12% positivity rate. The region's positivity rate decreased to 10.7%. Currently, 28.1% of medical/surgical beds are available and 23.1% of ICU beds.

The region has had 2 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Within this region, DeKalb County's positivity rate decreased to 10.8%, Lee County's rate decreased to 7.1%, and Whiteside County's rate decreased to 8.9%.

Finally, within this region, there are 46 available, staffed ICU beds out of 179 total, and 244 ventilators out of 342 available.

Illinois on Tuesday announced 7,359 cases and 117 deaths. Statewide there have been 863,477 cases and 14,509 deaths.

Sterling has had 13,369 tests and 1,643 cases. Rock Falls has had 6,300 tests and 946 cases. Dixon has had 17,216 tests and 1,594 cases. Rochelle has had 7,706 tests and 1,121 cases.
