Princeton's Ian Morris and Bureau Valley's Landon Hulsing won discus state titles, five area throwers brought home six medals and St. Bede's Greyson Marincic was runner-up in the 110 hurdles at the IHSA boys track and field state meet.

Aidan Wyzard and Dylan Hodges won state titles and help Sycamore claim the team points crown on Saturday at the Class 2A boys track and field state championships. Indian Creek, Kaneland and DeKalb also had medalists.

Huntley's Tommy Nitz became the second Red Raider in as many weekends to win a state title. The senior capped his high school career in grand style with a first-place finish in the Class 3A 1,600-meter run at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brien Field.

Sprinters Levi Milder and Brady Anderson and two relay wins led Morrison to the Class 1A state title, while Sterling earned medals in three relays in the 2A meet.

Ashley Poquette scored three goals Wednesday to spark the offense for Downers Grove North in an 11-7 win over Naperville North in the sectional semifinals.

Cate Carter and Izzy Voirol scored goals, and York jumped on Oak Park-River Forest early and cruised to a 2-0 win in the Class 3A Downers Grove North Sectional semifinal. The Dukes advanced to face Hinsdale Central in Friday's sectional final.

Rosary junior Katie Kostro soared to the Class 2A high jump state championship on Saturday, leading area medalists in Charleston. St. Charles North, St. Charles East, St. Francis, Aurora Central Catholic and Burlington Central also had medalists.

Westmont junior Kyla Babb pulled off an impressive distance double on Saturday at the state track and field meet, taking second in the Class 1A 3,200 meters and third in the 1,600. Downers Grove North, Downers Grove South and Wheaton North were among other schools with medals.

York sophomore Izzy Voirol knocked in a shot from nine yards out in the final minute of the first half to break a scoreless tie, and the Dukes went on to defeat Downers Grove South 2-0 in Friday's Class 3A York Regional final.

Nazareth senior Chase Zidlicky was slated to be the staff ace this spring, but a rash of injuries has put additional stress on him to pitch deeper into games. Zidklicky, 7-0 with a 1.73 ERA, has been up to the task. That and notes on Riverside-Brookfield and more from Bob Narang.

Junior forward Audrey Stredde scored in the 74th minute to break a scoreless tie and lead Geneva to a 1-0 victory over Bartlett Tuesday to reach the Class 3A St. Charles East Regional championship game.

York senior Jack Bodach threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts, overcoming a bloody bister in the fifth inning, to lead the Dukes to a 3-1 win over Downers Grove North.

Illinois recruit Ashlyn Adams scored a goal on a 39-yard free kick banger that sailed over St. Charles East goalie Sidney Lazenby’s fingertips in the sixth minute, and Wheaton Warrenville South went on to beat St. Charles East 2-0 for the Tigers' first DuKane Conference title.

St. Charles North's Alexzandria Richardson and a pair of North Stars' relays were among the state qualifiers from Thursday's Class 3A Hoffman Estates Sectional, which was delayed several times because of lightning and clock issues.

Solecki showed off her improvement by winning the discus (36.53 meters) and the shot put (11.17) at the Class 3A Downers Grove South Sectional to stamp her ticket to next weekend’s state track and field meet in Charleston. Both winning tosses were personal bests for Solecki.
