Bears place right tackle Germain Ifedi on injured reserve; linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu’s season is over

LAKE FOREST – Bears right tackle Germain Ifedi is headed for injured reserve due to a knee injury. A stint on IR requires at least a three-week absence. Bears head coach Matt Nagy said he doesn’t expect Ifedi’s injury to be season-ending.

Ifedi hurt his knee in Sunday’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Backup Elijah Wilkinson filled in for Ifedi to finish the game and is expected to continue to do so.

Nagy also said outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu, who injured a pectoral muscle Sunday, is also going on injured reserve and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Undrafted rookie linebacker Caleb Johnson, who primarily plays on special teams, suffered a knee injury Sunday. Johnson is not going on IR, and is week-to-week.

In corresponding moves, the Bears signed running back Ryan Nall and linebacker Sam Kamara to the active roster from the practice squad. The Bears also signed three players to the practice squad: linebacker Ledarius Mack, offensive lineman Dareuan Parker and linebacker Rashad Smith.

Nagy said rookie quarterback Justin Fields, who hyperextended his knee in Sunday’s game, should be fine. Fields left the game for a few plays but later returned.

Fields was listed on Wednesday’s injury report with rib and knee injuries, but he was a full participant in practice. Tight end Jimmy Graham (rest day), defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (groin), tight end J.P. Holtz (quad), linebacker Caleb Johnson (knee), linebacker Khalil Mack (foot) and receiver Allen Robinson (ankle) all missed practice Wednesday.

Linebacker Christian Jones (back), receiver Darnell Mooney (groin) and running back Damien Williams (foot/knee) were all limited participants Wednesday.

Fields, defensive back Xavier Crawford (back), defensive back Duke Shlley (ankle), linebacker Joel Iyiegbuniwe (hamstring) and linebacker Danny Trevathan (knee) are dealing with injuries but were full participants.
