Farnsworth House will offer winter tours beginning Friday, Jan. 8. Visitors are welcome on Fridays and Saturdays through March 27 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
As required by the state of Illinois, only exterior tours of the house will be available.
Visiting Farnsworth is an ideal reason to get out of the house for a walk in the fresh air on the wooded grounds along the Fox River. The exhibition of Edith Farnsworth’s Country House, a temporary refurnishing to the time when Edith inhabited the house in 1955, continues through 2021. Guests should dress for the weather and a half-mile walk to the house on chipped paths. When walking paths are impassable or weather severe, guests may follow the guide and drive to the site.
As required by state guidelines, advance purchase of tickets is required. The box office will close at noon on tour days and tickets are not available for purchase on-site. To purchase tickets, visit farnsworthhouse.org.
The regular season opens March 31, when the full schedule of tours is available Wednesday through Sunday at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.
