The Princeton Logan Lions softball team is starting to flex its muscles just in time for the postseason.
Logan had three players hit home runs in a doubleheader sweep over Peru Parkside Tuesday night - Gracie Andersen, Madie Gibson and Sophie Alt.
Alt capped the night by hitting for the cycle with a single, double, triple and home run in the 17-5 opening win. Caroline Keutzer and winning pitcher Ava Oertel added three hits each and Camryn Driscoll, Izzy Gibson and Sylvie Rutledge had two each.
Andersen and Madie Gibson homered in the B game which Logan won 9-2.
Logan defeated Ottawa Shepherd 12-2 on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Logan swept its Round-Robin Tournament, defeating Kewanee 4-3 on a walk-off RBI fielder’s choice by Driscoll, then blasting Aledo Mercer County 17-3. The Lions cracked 18 hits against Mercer County, including three each by Oertel and Alt, who were the winning pitchers on the day.
Notes: Logan drew the No. 1 seed for the Dunlap Valley Regional next week. The Lions are defending regional champions. ... Logan will play in the Putnam County Puma Classic in McNabb on Saturday.
