Students at Bureau Valley North Elementary in Walnut invited the public to a Veterans Day assembly Nov. 11 where they recited poems, sang songs and played music to honor veterans.

The Walnut American Legion Color Guard presented the flags for the ceremony. Dr. Daniel Fuertges, who recently went on the Honor Flight, served as guest speaker for the program.
