SPRING VALLEY – Spring Valley City Council on Monday approved the hiring of two new police officers for the Spring Valley Police Department.
Newly appointed Chief Adam Curran sought the council’s approval to hire two new full-time officers to replace voids in the department – one created by Police Chief Kevin Sangton’s retirement and Curran’s own promotion to chief, and the other by an anticipated retirement in the upcoming year of a long-time officer in the department. The department currently has eight full-time officers, only enough to cover a two-officer-per-shift minimum.
Curran said they’ve finished the initial application process and plan to hire the officers pending a background check, medical exam and psychological evaluation.
“I would like to thank the mayor and city council members for their support and for recognizing the need to staff our department,” Curran said.
