St. Bede wins Scholastic Bowl regional championship

While there will be no postseason play for the winter sports, the St. Bede Bruins landed a regional championship in Scholastic Bowl Monday.

St. Bede hosted the 1A regional competition at the Academy Monday. Other competing teams were Bureau Valley, Henry, Putnam County, Knoxville, Midland and Stark County.

Alyssa Heitz is captain for the Bruins team. Other team members are Lucy Kleczewski, Aleanna Mendoza, Matthew Rich, Jacob Schirz, Jack Wallace and Stephen Shaw.

The Bruins advance to the Elmwood Sectional on Saturday.
