Princeton seeks letters of recommendation for Rebuild Downtown Grant application

City is seeking $2.8 million in grant funds

PRINCETON — The city of Princeton is asking for letters of recommendation from businesses in hopes of securing grants for the Rebuild Downtown & Main Street Program.

The city is looking to apply for an estimated $2.8 million in grant funds through the North Central Illinois Council of Governments.

Grant funds are anticipated to be used for streetscaping and restoration or roadways and installation of pedestrian facilities in the area of the Amtrak Depot, according to a release from NCICG and Princeton Mayor Joel Quiram.

“A very important part of the grant application is to show community,” Quiram stated. “I am asking you to show your support by sending a short paragraph of how you feel this project would enhance the community and your life in the community. It doesn’t have to be a long formal written letter, just something via email or post, on how beneficial this project would be to yourself and the city of Princeton.”

Quiram said each letter will be a great asset to the application.

All support documentation should be submitted to Ali Braboy, community relations, NCICG. Please email all responses to abraboy@ncicg.org with Princeton in the subject line or mail them to NCICG/Ali Braboy at 613 W. Marquette St., Ottawa,IL 61350.
