The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,055 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 22 additional deaths Tuesday.
For Monday, the state administered 8,245 shots.
The state received the results of 54,834 COVID-19 tests in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday afternoon. The state’s positivity rate dropped to 1.1%
Illinois has seen 3,040,861 total cases of the virus, and 32,978 people have died. The state has conducted a total of 55,387,904 tests since the start of the pandemic.
As of late Monday, Illinois had 791 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Of those, 142 were in intensive care units, and 63 were on ventilators.
Vaccine update: As of Tuesday, the IDPH reported a total of 23,919,945 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been distributed statewide, with 21,188,555 vaccines administered.
As of Tuesday, 8,148,844 Illinoisans have been fully vaccinated, or 63.96% of the population. Illinois has a population of 12,741,080 people.
Also, 4,190,601 people have received a booster dose, or 32.89% of the state’s population. Among 5- to 11-year-olds, 39.72% have received at least one vaccine dose and 34.26% are fully vaccinated.

Within this region, McHenry County’s seven-day positivity rate average decreased to 3.1%. Lake County, which does about two-thirds of the testing in the region, is reporting a rolling average of 1.9%.
