Quinn Carrier scores 29 for Sycamore: Tuesday’s Daily Chronicle sports roundup

Girls basketball

Sycamore 48, La Salle-Peru 35: At Sycamore, Quinn Carrier had 29 points and eight rebounds to lead the Spartans.

Sadie Lang had 10 points, two assists and two steals. Carrier added eight rebounds.

Sycamore faces Kaneland in an I-8 battle on Friday.

Boys basketball

Indian Creek 58, IMSA 53: At Aurora, Logan Schrader and Faustino Mora each scored 12 for the Timberwolves.

Everett Willis had 10 as Indian Creek moved to 9-0 on the year.

Leland 62, Hiawatha 51: At Leland, Aidan Cooper had another double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

Boys swimming

DeKalb-Sycamore 90, IMSA 79: At Aurora, Matteo Graham and Kevin Sullivan each had a pair of wins in their individual events.

Graham won the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 58.64 seconds) and the 500 free (5:20.45). Sullivan was first in the 200 individual medley (2:08.89) and the 100 backstroke (57.72).

Alex Skrzypek won the 100 free (51.56).

It was the first meet of the year for the Barbs with 31 swimmers on the team, a lot of them new according to coach Melanie Chambers.

Men’s basketball

Waubonsee 96, Kishwaukee College 85: At Malta, the Kougars were up 50-47 at halftime but lost.

Mekhi Lunford scored 27 off the bench for Kish while Brayden Johnson scored 25. Connor Brown had 12 rebounds.

Women’s basketball

Waubonsee 71, Kishwaukee 39: At Malta, Loretta Atkinson scored 12 for the Kougars and Precious French added 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Brooklyn Rylko had 18 rebounds in the loss.
