MALTA – Kishwaukee College will offer six fast-track training programs during the spring semester.
The classes will be available online, in-person, and in hybrid formats.
The programs range from eight to 15 weeks and allow students to start careers or build skills with additional training. Participants need computer access and the internet for online programs. Some programs include a clinical component or an externship.
The spring fast-track training programs include:
- Appliance Repair Technician: Jan. 23 through April 16, in person. Appliance repair technicians are trained to assist clients with household appliance installation, repairs, and troubleshooting. In-person instruction will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Kishwaukee College.
- Dental Assistant: Jan. 13 through April 18, online lecture and in-person practice. Dental assistants are health care professionals who work with dentists and dental hygienists to provide corrective and preventative dental care and dental offices administrative support. In-person practice will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at a local dentist office.
- Pharmacy Technician: Jan. 13 through April 25, online. Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists with dispensing prescription medications while performing various duties in a pharmacy setting. Funding is available through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
- Real Estate Broker Pre-License: Jan. 13 through March 6, online. Real estate brokers perform duties in real estate transactions including establishing escrow accounts, marketing homes, and working to ensure legal and fair transactions. Online instruction will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Sterile Processing Technician: Jan. 13 through April 18, online. Sterile processing technicians provide support to health care facilities for patient services. Technicians de-contaminate, clean, process, assemble, sterilize, store and distribute medical devices and supplies needed in patient care, especially surgery.
- Veterinary Assistant: Jan. 13 through June 6, online lecture and in-person practice. Veterinary assistants are veterinary staff members trained to assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with medical procedures on injured and sick animals. Online lectures will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays. In-persons are set from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays at Ashton Animal Clinic. A clinical experience also will be held from May 12 through June 6 at a local animal hospital.
