SYCAMORE – There’s something new for parents to worry about when dropping off their kids for preschool in Sycamore, police said.

Recently, vehicles left unattended as parents walk their children into their daycare providers have become the target of burglaries, according to a Sycamore Police Department news release.

“We ask that when you leave your vehicle, anywhere, to lock your doors,” Sycamore officials wrote on social media.

While leaving the car running or unlocked can be tempting for parents looking to shave a minute off their commutes, police wrote that it’s not worth the risk.

“Even if it is only for a few moments, please lock your vehicle,” officials wrote. “Stay safe Sycamore.”
