Sycamore boys basketball reaches final of Elgin tournament: Friday’s Daily Chronicle sports roundup

Sycamore 57, West Chicago 24: At Elgin, the Spartans reached the finals of the tournament.

Isaiah Feuerbach scored 14 while Michael Chami and Josiah Mitchell each scored eight.

The Spartans will face Waukegan for the title on Saturday.

Hinckley-Big Rock 79, Lisle 45: At Plano, the Royals won their first game at the tournament in decisive fashion.

Martin Ledbetter flirted with a triple-double with 23 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and six steals. Max Hintzsche had 23 points and Luke Badal added 11 for the Royals (8-3).

The Royals close the tournament at 10:30 a.m. Saturday against Newark.

Shipyard Showdown: At Seneca, Indian Creek fell 52-50 to Marquette and beat Putnam County 46-30.

Logan Schrader had 13, Faustino Mora had 12 and Payton Hueber had 10 in the first game.

Against Putnam County, Everett Wills had 13, Schrader 12 and Hueber 11.

IC (11-4) wraps up play in the 13th-place game at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Girls basketball

Boylan’s Reindeer Games: At Rockford, Quinn Carrier scored 17 and Sadie Lang added 13 in a 61-49 loss to Orangeville.

In the second game, the Spartans picked up a 53-48 win over Grant in the final pool-play game.

Sycamore will face Harlem in the seventh-place game at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Kaneland picked up a pair of wins on Friday and will face Boylan in the third-place game at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Knights picked up a 69-27 win against Marian Central. Kyra Lilly led the way with 19 points, Sam Kerry added 18 and Kendra Brown 14.

Kaneland also beat Harlem 52-30. Kerry had 18 and Brown 12.

Flanagan 69, Hinckley-Big Rock 40: At Earlville, Anna Herrman scored 19 while Raven Wagner added seven points and 11 rebounds.

The Royals were without starting center Sami Carlino, who rolled her ankle in Thursday’s tournament game. The team had just seven players on the roster in the loss.

Coach Bob Barnett said he expects Carlino back in January.

Boys wrestling

Sandwich Dual Team Tournament: At Sandwich, Genoa-Kingston finished in eighth place.

The Cogs dropped their final match 42-36 to St. Viator.
