SYCAMORE – The Kishwaukee Valley Art League will host several programs and events in January at Gallery on State, 322 W. State St., Sycamore.

The gallery will host a Sycamore High School art exhibit. Attendees can view art pieces created by Sycamore High School art students. The exhibit will be held in the gallery’s east window.

The league’s next general meeting is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 6 at the gallery. KVAL members will present artwork created for the Secret Subject challenge. The members created art pieces featuring challenge cards secret words.

The gallery’s next art rotation will begin Jan. 13. New artwork will be displayed for upcoming sales and exhibitions.

KVAL was assigned an Northern Illinois University marketing student team during the fall. The team provided advice on ways to improve the league. The students met with general and board members and presented final recommendations Dec. 6 at the gallery. The suggestions include expanding KVAL’s brand recognition; increasing digital media campaigns, membership, and volunteer retention; grant availability; and understanding other art galleries.

The league’s 54th annual Northern Illinois Art Show is set for May 31 and June 1 on the front lawn of the DeKalb County Courthouse, 133 W. State St., Sycamore. The show will feature up to 70 artisans exhibiting various fine arts and crafts mediums. To apply, visit kval-nfp.org or the gallery.
