DeKalb wrestling rolls past Metea Valley: Thursday’s Daily Chronicle sports roundup

Boys wrestling

DeKalb 71, Metea Valley 6: At DeKalb, the Barbs won by pin in six of their seven on-the-mat wins.

Tyler Daub (126), Alan Izaguirre (138), Hudson Ikens (150), Sean Kolkebeck (165) and Erick Rivas (190) notched falls for the Barbs. Cam Matthews got a tech fall at 157 for DeKalb.

Sycamore 69, Ottawa 9: At Ottawa, the Spartans rolled to an Interstate 8 victory.

Douglas Gemberling (165), Cooper Bode (175), Clyde Nott (215), Collin Hughes (285), Carson West (106), Charlie Olson (113) and Thomas Lind (138) had pins in the victory.

Michael Olson (120), Tyler Lockhart (126) and Jayden Dohogne picked up tech falls for Sycamore.

Girls wrestling

DeKalb 42, Metea Valley 9: At DeKalb, the Barbs picked up two contested victories.

Alex Gregorio-Perez (110) and Reese Zimmer (125) won by pins for DeKalb.

Boys swimming

DeKalb-Sycamore 92, Neuqua Valley 77: At DeKalb, Sean Harrelson and Kevin Sullivan each won a pair of individual events for the Barbs.

Harrleson won the 100-yard butterfly (56.8) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.8). Sullivan was first in the 200 individual medley (2:10.58) and the 100 backstroke (57.98)

Alex Zkryzpek won the 100 freestyle (51.42) and Luke Oland won the 50 free (23.53). Matteo Graham won the 200 free (1:56.98).

Girls basketball

Serena 49, Hinckley-Big Rock 23: At Hinckley, the Royals dropped the Little 10 Conference game.

Somonauk 43, Hiawatha 19: At Kirkland, Brielle Molloy had eight points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
