DeKALB – The DeKalb Public Library will host an introductory workshop for patrons to learn how to repair their personal books.
The workshop will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 26 in the library’s lower-level Zimmerman Meeting Room, 309 Oak St.
The free workshop is intended for adults and teenagers.
Attendees can learn how to assess book damage, perform repairs and photocopy missing pages to tip in. The workshop also will cover how to archivally test and store delicate items. Repair techniques include book corner reinforcement, tightening hinges, preventing water damage, pencil erasing, torn pages and text alignment, and tipping loose pages. Library material will not be repaired. No registration is required to attend.
