DeKalb mental health service opens new food pantry

The Living Room at Northwestern Medicine’s Ben Gordon Center will open pantry twice monthly

DeKALB – The Living Room at Northwestern Medicine’s Ben Gordon Center recently opened a new food pantry to support the community’s clients and families nutritional needs.

The pantry will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the center, 12 Health Services Drive, DeKalb.

The food pantry features various nutritious food options, healthy snacks, non-perishable items, and DeKalb County food pantries resources. The pantry will provide special focus to residents experiencing food insecurity and health center clients. Food pantry staff includes a mental health professionals team. The pantry opening is part of the center’s mental health care commitment initiative.

The Living Room at Ben Gordon Center is a mental health service that provides residents space to address crises without visiting an emergency department.
