DeKalb library to host civil rights leaders program Feb. 4

DeKALB – The DeKalb Public Library will hold a program for patrons to learn about Civil Rights Movement leaders Ferdinand Lee Barnett and Ida B. Wells.

The program will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 4 in the library’s lower-level Zimmerman Meeting Room, 309 Oak St.

The couple was married in 1895. Barnett became Illinois’ first black assistant state’s attorney. Wells was an NAACP founder and a women’s suffrage movement member. No registration is required to attend.
