Kishwaukee College Black History Month events begin Feb. 4

MALTA – Kishwaukee College will host several discussions and events to celebrate Black History Month throughout February.

The events will be begin Feb. 4 at the college, 21193 Malta Road, Malta.

Admission to the events is free.

The Black History Month events are based on themes and programs created by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. The theme for this year’s celebration is African Americans and Labor.

Kishwaukee College’s Black History Month events include:

  • Standing on Business: Black Workforce Panel: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 4 in the student lounge
  • Create a Collage: 12:30 to 2 p.m. Feb. 11 in the student lounge
  • Color and Canvas Creations: 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 13 in the intercultural center
  • Say it With Music: 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 19 in the student lounge
  • Karaoke Jam Session: Noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 26 in the student lounge

Black History Month is observed annually to honor and recognize the accomplishments made by Black people in the U.S. and across the globe.
