IHSA State Tournament: At Bloomington, Sycamore took 11th place in Class 1A during Friday’s prelims, earning a spot in Saturday’s finals.
The Spartans finished with an 86, four points behind a top-four finish. Providence Catholic netted a 93.56 to finish atop the preliminary standings.
Boys basketball
Indian Creek 79, Hiawatha 55: At Shabbona, Everett Willis scored 19 points to lead the Timberwolves in the win.
Logan Schrader scored 12 and Faustino Mora had 11 for Indian Creek. Colby Wylde added a season-high 18 for the Hawks.
Hinckley-Big Rock 63, IMSA 54: At Hinckley, Luke Badal had 19 points, six steals and seven rebounds in the Little 10 win.
Martin Ledbetter had 18 points and 19 rebounds for the Royals (17-7, 7-1) while Max Hintzsche scored 12.
Oregon 62, Genoa-Kingston 57: At Genoa, the Cogs trailed by as much as 18 early but had two chances to take the lead late in the loss.
Marcus Johnson scored 27 for the Cogs.
Girls basketball
Genoa-Kingston 49, Oregon 41: At Genoa, Presley Meyer and Ally Poegel handled most of the scoring in the Big Northern Conference victory.
Meyer scored 22 points and Poegel had 18.
