Letter: In response to ‘Heartbroken over election’

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor Kelsey Rettke,

In response to Susan Lovell’s 12-3-24 letter “Heartbroken over election,” I must say that being bound in hate for Trump and his supporters with name calling rhetoric (such as “monster,”) and hostility in thought will not help you love even one person or our country more.

President-elect Trump has declared repeatedly to the hateful remarks, the violence, and even two assassination attempts, “I love my country, and my revenge will be success.”

I encourage Ms. Lovell and all Democrats to open their hearts, focus on strengthening America to grow in patriotic spirit toward greatness, a stronger military for defense, a stronger economy with less waste in government, and lower gas and grocery prices for families, and a stronger future for our young people. We also need a return to common sense in protecting women and women’s sports

Removing the barriers to greatness that Ms. Lovell sees will help us love our country and each other as Americans more. As Democrat President Lyndon Johnson often said: “Come, let us reason together.”

Sincerely,

Elsie Campbell Morrissey
