DeKALB – The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of DeKalb will host the last of its winter farmers market fundraisers to finance two new roof furnaces.
The market will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 8 at the church, 158 N. Fourth St.
Admission to the fundraiser is $1 for adults and free for children.
“The UUCD February Winter Market is the perfect time to take care of your Valentine’s Day, early Easter, or just for-the-fun-of-it shopping in a festive environment,” Unitarian Universalist Congregation of DeKalb market coordinator Dorothy Coleman said in a news release.

The fundraiser features humanely raised, hormone-free poultry, lamb, pork, grass-fed beef, organic eggs, cheese, and sausage from the Hasselmann Family Farm; organic French pastries from St. Roger’s Abbey; locally-raised honey from local farms; and soup, beverages, pastries, and bread from church volunteers. Additional donations are welcome.
Locally-made crafts will be for sale. The market also will include a used book sale and live music. The book prices range from 25 cents to $1.

“This year we have lots of new inventory in a variety of book categories for all ages and interests,” Unitarian Universalist Congregation of DeKalb book sale coordinator Danica Lovings also said in the news release.
“Best of all, money spent locally multiplies throughout the community instead of leaving the county, helping to support both our local vendors and a strong local economy,” Coleman said. “So come one, come all, shop unique and local farm and artisan products, have some hearty lunch soup, browse the used book sale, listen to live music, and have a great time.”
