Sycamore’s Kaitlynn Donner takes fourth at regional: Friday’s Daily Chronicle sports roundup

Kaneland Regional: At Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb, three Sycamore bowlers, two from DeKalb and one from Kaneland advanced to next week’s Oregon Sectional.

For Sycamore, Kaitlynn Doerner rolled a 1,217 to take fourth overall, while Kaitlyn Ryder netted an 1,154 to take 15th. Katarina Weigel added an 1,117 to take 18th. The Spartans rolled a 5,097 as a team to take seventh, 378 pins out of qualifying.

Kaneland rolled a 4,871 to take eighth. Preslee Sutherland rolled a 1,202 to take eighth, while Emma Pernice grabbed the final qualifying spot with a 1,094.

DeKalb was ninth with a 4,814. Paige Lewis was fifth overall with a 1,215 to qualify.

Girls basketball

Kaneland 55, Morris 51: At Morris, Kendra Brown scored 23 points and the Knights improved to 20-9 overall and 7-1 in the Interstate 8.

Boys basketball

DeKalb 56, Naperville Central 44: At Naperville, the Barbs picked up the DuPage Valley Conference win.

Winnebago 59, Genoa-Kingston 46: At Winnebago, Marcus Johnson scored for the Cogs. Nathan Kleba added 10 in the loss.
