SOMONAUK – The Somonauk Public Library, will host several programs and events in February.
The events schedule includes:
- Tot Tales: 10:30 a.m. Feb. 12, 19, and 26. Participants will be introduced to hand motions, rhymes, songs, and books. The program is intended for children ages newborn to three. Registration is required to attend.
- Story Hour: 10:30 a.m. Feb. 11, 18, and 25. The program includes crafts, stories, songs, and snacks. The program is intended for children ages three to five. Registration is required to attend.
- Chapter Club: 6:30 p.m. Feb. 24. Attendees can discuss books and participate in an activity. The club is intended for children ages seven to 10. Book copies will be available at the front desk.
- Paws For Reading: 4 p.m. Feb. 27. Participants will be able to read for 15 minutes to Fox Valley Therapy dogs. Registration is required to attend. To register, visit the library or call 815-498-2440.
- Teen Cozy Crafting Nights: 6 p.m. Feb. 10 and 24. The event features crafts and music. Craft supplies and tools will be provided. Light snacks also will be served. Registration is required to attend.
- Take Home Book Boxes for Tweens and Teens: Runs through Feb. 8. The boxes include up to two books, a treat, and book-related surprises. Due to the limited number of boxes, reservations are required. To reserve a box, call or visit the library.
- Family Game Day: 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 8. Attendees can play a game provided by the library or bring their own games. Light snacks will be served.
- Winter Reading Challenge: January through February. Participants will be able to fill out challenge cards for a prize and ticket to win a goody basket. Challenge cards are available at the front desk.
- Local Writers Group: 5 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20. The group is available for high school students and adults. The first session will be held at the Sandwich Public Library, 925 S. Main St.
- Bingo: 12:30 p.m. Feb. 2 and 19. Attendees can play Bingo to win prizes. Refreshments will be served. The event is intended for people ages 18 and older.
- Tech Help For Seniors: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 27. Attendees can receive one-on-one technology support from tech enthusiast Steve Goodwin. The 20-minute sessions include cell phone, laptop, and tablet support. Appointments are required. To schedule an appointment, visit patron services or call 815-498-2440.
- Cards With Karen: 6 p.m. Feb. 13. Participants will be able to create three handmade cards. Materials will be provided. Registration is required and costs $5.
- History Book Club: 4 p.m. Feb. 13. Attendees can read and discuss history and nonfiction books.
- Fiction Addiction: 4 p.m. Feb. 20. Participants will be able to discuss and read fiction books.
- Pageturners: 2 p.m. Feb. 26. Attendees can discuss suspense books.
- Men’s Book Club: 4 p.m. Feb. 25. Participants will be able to read and discuss nonfiction, history, and biography books.
- Friends of the Library: 4 p.m. Feb. 27. Attendees can help plan library events.
