DeKALB – DeKalb County added 35 more residents to its fully vaccinated total Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health, and 21 more virus cases were identified.
The new cases bring the total virus case count to 12,235 in the county, according to the DeKalb County Health Department. The number of deaths remains at 133, with no new deaths reported Friday.
The seven-day rolling positivity rate for Region 1, which runs north to Rockford and west to the Iowa border, is 3.9%. The DeKalb County positivity rate is at 2.6%. Positivity rates are reported with a three-day data lag. Region 1 also reported a seven-day average of 113 COVID-19 patients hospitalized.

According to IDPH data, 102,776 total vaccine doses have been administered to DeKalb County residents, and 50,755 residents – or 50.5% of the county’s population of 100,420, according to 2020 U.S. Census Bureau data – have been fully vaccinated.
The seven-day rolling average of doses administered to county residents is at 160. Inventory data was not available by the IDPH Friday.

Two local long-term care facilities still report a COVID-19 outbreak as of Friday, although no new cases were reported.
DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center reported an outbreak of four, including three employees and one resident. Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center reported seven employees who have contracted the virus.
Updated vaccination by ZIP code data shows the percentages of residents in DeKalb County ZIP codes who have been fully vaccinated as of Oct. 6. ZIP code population data used by the IDPH utilized unofficial 2018 census data, including those 12 and older, according to IDPH spokesperson Melaney Arnold.

In the 60115 (DeKalb) ZIP code, 44.47% is fully vaccinated. In 60135 (Genoa), it’s 54.14%. In 60145 (Kingston), 40.4% is fully vaccinated. In 60146 (Kirkland, Fairdale), 39.96% is fully vaccinated. In 60150 (Malta), 47.46% is fully vaccinated. In 60151 (Maple Park), 52.68% is fully vaccinated. In 60178 (Sycamore), 57.89% is fully vaccinated. In 60520 (Hinckley), 49.11% is fully vaccinated. In 60548 (Sandwich), 48.72% is fully vaccinated; in 60550 (Shabbona), 45.05% is fully vaccinated; in 60552 (Somonauk), 46.24% is fully vaccinated; and in 60556 (Waterman), 47.36% is fully vaccinated.
Of the new virus cases reported Friday, there were nine in residents age 19 or younger, three in their 20s, three in their 30s, one in their 40s, two in their 50s and three in their 60s.
In total, there have been 2,413 cases in residents age 19 or younger, 2,938 in their 20s, 1,860 in their 30s, 1,631 in their 40s, 1,455 in their 50s, 1,007 in their 60s, 508 in their 70s and 441 in their 80s or older.
Of the 133 deaths reported in DeKalb County thus far, 74 were in residents in their 80s or older, 23 were in their 70s, 21 in their 60s, nine in their 50s, three in their 40s, one in their 30s, one in their 20s and one infant.
The DeKalb County Health Department does not specify how many COVID-19 cases are linked to delta or any other variant of the virus. Testing for variants in positive COVID-19 results is done randomly and at the state level, according to local health officials.
According to DeKalb County data most recently updated Friday, there have been between 5,391 and 5,895 cases in DeKalb, 2,436 and 2,440 cases in Sycamore, 1,066 and 1,070 in Sandwich and Plano (listed as one region on the site), 936 and 940 in Genoa, 266 and 270 cases in Kingston, 581 and 585 cases in Cortland, 306 and 310 cases in Hinckley, 276 and 280 in Kirkland, 256 and 260 cases in Somonauk, 171 and 175 in Waterman, 171 and 175 in Malta, 136 and 140 in Shabbona, 111 and 115 in Maple Park, 36 and 40 in Earlville, 26 and 30 in Clare, 11 and 15 in Leland, 16 to 20 in Esmond, and six and 10 in Lee. Hampshire, Marengo and Rochelle each reported between one and five cases.
The IDPH reported that 1,650,108 people in Illinois have tested positive for COVID-19, while 25,224 people have died statewide. The department reported that 32,938,108 tests have been administered to date.
According to testing and recovery data released by the county every Friday, 11,430 DeKalb County residents have fully recovered and 204,819 tests of county residents have been completed. Updated recovery numbers were not available Friday, according to the DeKalb County Health Department.
