Here’s a look at the top golfers from around the Daily Chronicle coverage area for the 2024 season
Like all other high school sports, developing golfing skills can start at an early age. By that standard, DeKalb’s Jonah Keck was a latecomer to the game. The senior started playing the sport in eighth grade. He is the Daily Chronicle Golfer of the Year.
The Class 2A Kaneland Boys Golf Sectional was held on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024 at Hughes Creek in Elburn.
Teams from Burlington Central, Kaneland, Ottawa, La Salle-Peru, Mendota, Sycamore, Plano and Sandwich all competed in the Class 2A boys golf regional on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024 at Senicas Oak Ridge Golf Club.
Several teams including Sycamore, Kaneland, LaSalle-Peru, Ottawa and Morris were at the Kishwaukee Country Club in DeKalb to compete in the Interstate 8 boys golf tournament.
The top 20 players were within 10 strokes of par Monday at the Mark Rolfing Cup, with Geneva repeating as team champion thanks to a fifth-score tiebreaker.
Area golf teams from Streator, Ottawa, Hall, La Salle-Peru, Kaneland, Sycamore, Morris, Dixon, Parkview Christian, Minooka and Marmion Academy all competed in the Pirate Invitational meet on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024 at Deer Park Golf Course in Oglesby.
The DeKalb, Sycamore, Kaneland, Geneva, Huntley, St. Charles North and Burlington Central boys golf teams were among those that played Monday in the Mark Rolfing Cup at the Kishwaukee Country Club in DeKalb.
