DEKALB - One person was injured after a ‘targeted’ shooting at a home in the early morning hours Sunday along Taylor Street in DeKalb, said DeKalb Police Chief David Byrd.
Byrd said police don’t know how many were yet involved in what he called a “targeted shooting.” He said police believe the suspected shooter or shooters walked up to a house in the 100 block of Taylor Street and opened fire. Bullets struck a man inside, injuring him.
DeKalb Police Cmdr. Bob Redel said the shooting left the victim hospitalized. No arrests have yet been made in the incident, which remains under investigation, Redel said.
According to a citywide emergency alert sent around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, DeKalb police responded to reports of gunfire in the 100 block of East Taylor Street. Police also reported that East Taylor was closed from South First Street to South Fourth Street for a period, asking residents to avoid the area.
The road has since been reopened.
