DeKALB – The 2021-2022 school year has been a challenging year for educators, so families and students at Tyler Elementary School in DeKalb decided to organize a Staff Appreciation Month to thank educators for their hard work.
Each school day in December, Tyler staff were given gift cards, gift baskets, decorative items, desserts, flowers, breakfast items, massages, therapy dogs, meditation and lunch by the DeKalb community, according to a news release.
The Tyler staff have been overjoyed by the community and family support and kindness that has been shown this month.
“The generosity that has been shown by the DeKalb and Tyler Community has been overwhelming,” said Tyler Principal Robyn Timmerman in a news release. Timmerman said she’s proud of all that her students and staff have accomplished this school year despite all the continuing obstacles and barriers.
“The Tyler staff are an amazing group of educators that always go above and beyond to ensure student success and deserve this great recognition,” Timmerman said in the release.
