With high temperatures here to stay for the time being in DeKalb County, area officials on Monday announced cooling centers are free and available to use for the public to beat the heat.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will remain in the 80s and move to to 90s again by Thursday, with nighttime lows in the 50s.
Area residents were also out and about at the splash pads in DeKalb and Sycamore Monday taking advantage of the opportunity to cool off and enjoy some playtime in the water.
