DeKALB - DeKalb County community members in need will get a chance to have a full Thanksgiving meal thanks to WLBK FM 98.9/ AM 1360′s annual Let’s Talk Turkey food drive benefiting The Salvation Army DeKalb Corps.
The food drive is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 19 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to a news release. Donors can drop off turkeys or a monetary donation at The Salvation Army DeKalb Corps, 830 Grove Street.
Individuals can apply for Thanksgiving baskets in person at The Salvation Army DeKalb Corps through Monday, Nov. 22. Baskets will be distributed on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
Monetary donations can also be made by texting TURKEYS to 51555.
The Salvation Army plans to distribute Thanksgiving meal baskets to 500 families. Baskets will include turkeys and ingredients to make traditional Thanksgiving side dishes, the release states.
“We are grateful for the generosity of our partners at WLBK radio, who, together with members of our community, are helping to put a special Thanksgiving meal on the table for our neighbors in need,” said Envoy Rick Garcia, Corps Officer for the Salvation Army, in a statement. “Our goal is to provide hope to those facing a difficult year, and one less thing to worry about this holiday season.”
