Genoa-Kingston area volunteers partner for toy drive

GENOA – Organizers in the Genoa and Kingston communities partnered this month to collect toys for families in need this holiday season.

Every year, Christi Volkening, a human resources employee with the Genoa-Kingston Community Unit School District 424 organizes a districtwide toy drive for the Genoa-Kingston area, according to a news release.

Volkening also partnered with Haleigh Hunger, program director for Rooted for Good Genoa to get toys and gifts into the hands of Genoa-Kingston community members.

The Genoa-Kingston Impact Club students and other volunteers worked with Volkening and Hunger to organize toys and get them ready for distribution to local families for this year’s drive Dec. 18.
