Letter: In support of Illinois End of Life Options Act

I am writing in support of SB 3499 Illinois End of Life Options Act that provides an end-of-life option for mentally capable terminally ill adults patients.

Throughout my life I have witnessed terminally ill patients needlessly suffer in situations where hospice or palliative care did not provide sufficient pain relief.

I watched my mother and my in-laws suffer a great deal of pain for weeks before dying.

This bill would offer an option for the terminally ill to end their life on their own terms.
