The DeKalb and Sycamore boys soccer teams played Monday in a summer soccer friendly at DeKalb High School.
Nearly 100 cyclists biked from Normal through La Salle County to DeKalb on Saturday, July 12, for Day 3 of Cycle Across Illinois, a charity campaign to honor fallen police officers and raise funds for their families. The group was led into town by DeKalb County Sheriff Andy Sullivan. They're expected to bike through the suburbs and end in Chicago Sunday after nearly 400 miles.

Kassandra Santos, of DeKalb, mother of 1-year-old Marely Chavarria Santos, worries about what the future holds in light of recent legislation that calls for cuts in Medicaid. Marley, who had a heart transplant and suffers from other health issues, requires round-the-clock care much of which is covered by Medicaid.
