Holiday spirit aplenty at Bourbonnais' Miracle at The Grove

Charlotte Gifford, 8, of Bourbonnais, tells Santa her wish list on Saturday during the Miracle at The Grove event.

The spirit of the holidays was alive and well over the weekend as Bourbonnais hosted its first Miracle at The Grove on Saturday.

The village teamed up with the Community Arts Council of Kankakee County to host the event, which featured holiday shopping for handmade gifts from local artists and crafters, free Santa Sleigh Rides and photos with Santa, Merry the real reindeer, face painting in the Community Room by the Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School Arts Honor Society, numerous food vendors and the chance to try out the village’s synthetic ice rink for free.

Carols were also performed by the River Valley Choral Ensemble, the Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School Vocal Pointe Jazz Choir and the Kankakee Valley Theatre Association.

Residents braved the day’s weather to celebrate the first holiday season at the village of Bourbonnais’ new community gathering place, The Grove.
