BRADLEY — Taxpayers in the Bourbonnais Township Park District received a holiday gift Monday.
The board is asking for a 2% increase in the tax levy for 2024.
It is less than the 2.5% increase the commissioners asked for in 2023.
“Since we have been here, we have never asked for the maximum. We’re doing pretty good for not doing that. It keeps money in people’s pockets. That’s why I think we are here,” board President David Zinanni said.
All five members of the board feel strongly to keep the rate down.
“It is important not to stick it to the people,” said BTPD’s treasurer Rob Romo, who is also the Village of Bradley’s finance director. “Right now we are in good financial shape. We are not going to ask for the full amount because we can. We are asking for a 2% increase.”
The park district’s net tax levy for 2024 is $3,231,893, an increase of $63,500.
