Warming centers available in Kankakee County for January 21

River Valley Metro will offer free bus rides when the wind chill hits zero degrees and is effective for the remainder of the day.

The Kankakee County Health Department reminds residents that there are warming centers located throughout the county to access when temperatures reach extreme levels.

Public libraries in Bourbonnais, Bradley, Kankakee and Momence are all listed as warming centers. The Leo Hassett Community Center at 211 N. Main St. in Manteno is also a place to go to get warm.

The Village of Hopkins Park building at 13043 E. 2260S Road in Hopkins Park and the Pembroke Township Senior Center at 4019 S. Wheeler Road are also listed as warming centers.

People can also ride the River Valley Metro buses for free to get warm when the wind chill hits zero degrees and is effective the remainder of the day.
