KANKAKEE — A Kankakee house sustained an estimated $45,000 of damages due to a Thursday evening fire.
Kankakee Fire Department responded to the blaze at 305 N. Industrial Ave. at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
A resident, along with two grandchildren, were home at the time. They noticed a fire in the kitchen and called 911. Firefighters responded and quickly extinguished it.
In addition to Kankakee, firefighters from Bradley and Bourbonnais Township assisted.
Firefighters were at the scene for about an hour.
Fire Chief Bryan LaRoche said the fire in the single-story house appears to have been caused by an electrical issue within the kitchen.
He noted residents have been displaced. There were no injuries.
