Car destroyed in fire in Kankakee

KANKAKEE — A car was a complete loss following a garage fire on the southside of Kankakee Monday.

At approximately 8:15 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 400 block of West Jeffery Street.

The original call was for a car fire but when firefighters arrived on scene, the fire extended to a detached garage. The fire was extinguished quickly, Kankakee Fire Chief Bryan LaRoche said.

The garage sustained an estimated $15,000 in damages, LaRoche said.

There were no injuries, LaRoche said.
