IHSA Class 3A Richton Park Regional: Three wrestlers from the Bradley-Bourbonnais boys wrestling team advanced to the Joliet Sectional with their performance at regionals on Saturday, where all three earned third-place finishes. Evan Johnson placed third at 106 pounds, as did Kayden Roach at 175 and Brayden O’Connor at 190. The Boilermakers placed fifth as a team.

IHSA Class 2A Oak Forest Regional: The Kankakee boys wrestling team competed in regionals on Saturday, where the Kays had one wrestler clinch a spot in the Darien Sectional starting Feb. 14. Senior Jacob Vinardi punched his ticket by placing first at 190 pounds, winning his first match by fall and the championship match by major decision.

Bishop McNamara 77, Marian Central Catholic 55: After starting play in the Chicagoland Christian Conference 1-2, the Fightin’ Irish picked up their fourth conference win in a row with their road victory over the Hurricanes Saturday. They improved to 22-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

Trey Provost led Bishop McNamara in scoring with 19 points. He was joined in double figures by Karter Krustinger with 15 points and Richie Darr with 13 points.

Illinois Christian Conference Tournament

Trinity 86, Families of Faith 36: The Eagles picked up a blowout win in the semifinals of the Illinois Christian Conference Tournament, the first of two games for the team on Saturday. Cory Hathaway led the team with 23 points in the game to help put Trinity in the championship game and improve their record to 17-7.

Trinity 64, Chesterton Academy 61: In the championship game of the Illinois Christian Conference Tournament on Saturday, the Eagles found themselves trailing by eight at halftime after their blowout win in the semis earlier in the day. But they stormed back in the second half, cutting the deficit to two by the end of the third quarter and taking the lead with about three minutes remaining. Trinity would hold that lead for good to clinch the tournament title.

Vinnie Hendrix led the team with 22 points in the championship game and Cory Hathaway added 18 points.

River Valley Conference Tournament

Beecher 66, Momence 33: Not only did Saturday’s win give Beecher a spot in the River Valley Conference semifinals, it also gave head coach Tyler Shireman another milestone. Having previously set the school record with his 197th win back on Jan. 14, Saturday’s win was the 200th of his coaching career.

It was a nice win for the Bobcats, as four players scored in double figures to improve the team’s record to 14-11. Wences Baumgartner led the team with 15 points while Orlin Nesbitt recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Noah Berry and Collin Malecha scored 10 points apiece.

Momence fell to 8-15 with the loss. Erick Castillo led the team with 12 points while Nick Charbonneau added seven points. Austin Lynch had four points.

St. Anne 66, Donovan 39: The top-seeded Cardinals took care of business in the RVC Tournament on Saturday, downing the Wildcats by 27 points. St. Anne improved to 19-6 on the season with the win while Donovan fell to 5-18. No individual stats were immediately available for either team.

Central 66, Gardner-South Wilmington 28: A balanced scoring attack from the Comets helped propel them to a big win in the RVC Tournament on Saturday against the Panthers. Blake Chandler was the only Central player to score in double figures, but 10 other players scored for the Comets to improve their record to 16-8. Gardner-South Wilmington fell to 5-21.

Behind Chandler’s 12 points, Aidan Podowicz and Owen Rasmussen scored eight points apiece for Central, while Jake Thompson and Derek Meier scored seven points apiece.

For Gardner-South Wilmington, Brock Enerson led the team with eight points. Cooper Biros and Case Christensen each scored six points.

Grace Christian 53, Grant Park 52: The Crusaders managed to edge out the Dragons on Saturday in what was the closest game of the RVC Tournament so far. Grace Christian improved to 13-10 on the season with the win. Grant Park dropped to 8-18.

Grant Park had three players score in double figures in the loss. Blake Brown led the team with 18 points while Ethan Barnas added 12 points and Ryder Greenholdt had 10 points. Brayden Heldt chipped in seven points.

No individual stats were immediately available for Grace Christian.

Girls basketball

Tri-Point 47, Iroquois West 44: The Raiders fell just short in a nonconference game on the road on Saturday, their eighth loss this season by seven or fewer points. They fell to 12-15 overall on the season.

Amelia Scharp led Iroquois West in scoring with 19 points in the game. Kenleigh Hendershot added 10 points to join Scharp in double figures.

Morris 45, Wilmington 17: Wilmington dropped a tough game at home in nonconference play on Saturday, falling to 19-8 overall. It was the Wildcats’ third loss in the last four games after they had won 12 of their previous 14. No individual stats were available for Wilmington.
