Driver, dog rescued from vehicle that crashed on I-57

BOURBONNAIS – The driver of a Jeep and her dog were rescued Sunday morning by emergency personnel after the Jeep left Interstate 57 and into a pond.

The driver was traveling north when for unknown reasons the Jeep left the east side of the roadway south of the Bourbonnais Parkway Exit (318).

The vehicle went through a fence and field before coming to rest right side up in the pond, according to a preliminary investigation by Illinois State Police Troop 5.

The crash occurred about 6:16 a.m.

The woman and her dog were rescued by members of the Bourbonnais Fire Protection District. They were assisted by Manteno Fire Protection District, according to authorities.

The driver and her dog were taken to a local hospital as a precaution, ISP Troop 5 said.

ISP was assisted by Bourbonnais police.
