Area girls bowlers meet for All-City on National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Local athletes took to their respective courts, fields and even bowling alleys on National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

The national annual day of observance began in 1987. One day during the first week of February every year, NGWSD recognizes the accomplishments, influence and advocacy for girls and women in sports.

Locally, a handful of area girls bowling teams gathered at Brookmont Bowling Center in Kankakee for the All-City meet. Bradley-Bourbonnais finished on top, besting Kankakee, Bishop McNamara, Herscher and Peotone. Kankakee’s Serena Birr was the top individual.
