Here is the 2024 Record Newspapers All-Area football team.
OFFENSE
Brendan Bisgrove, Oswego, senior, offensive line: Bisgrove paved the way for an offense that gained 1,583 yards on the ground and 1,058 yards in the air for SPC West champs.
Jeremiah Cain, Oswego, senior, wide receiver/defensive back: Committed to Northern Iowa. Two-way standout and all-conference pick had 18 catches for 382 yards with five touchdowns. Defensively had 19 tackles, four interceptions, three pass break ups, three forced fumbles, one sack and one fumble recovery.
Brett Connolly, Oswego, senior, quarterback: All-conference quarterback for SPC West champs was 79-for-130 passing for 1,081 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Tate Frieders, Sandwich, senior, offensive line: First team all-conference pick in the Kishwaukee River was honorable mention All-State lineman in Class 4A.
Simeion Harris, Sandwich, senior, running back: Two-time first team all-conference pick rushed for over 600 yards and was also a playmaker as Sandwich’s starting safety.
Dyllan Malone, Yorkville, senior, wide receiver: Committed to Iowa State. Malone had 31 catches for 474 yards and four touchdowns. Also had seven carries for 38 yards and a TD and defensively had two interceptions.
Teddy Manikas, Oswego, junior, wide receiver: All-conference receiver had 23 catches for 272 yards and two TDs. Also had four rushes for 53 yards.
Ben McCollum, Oswego, senior, offensive line: All-conference lineman. McCollum paved the way for an offense that gained 1,583 yards on the ground and 1,058 yards in the air for SPC West champs.
Nick Michalek, Sandwich, junior, running back: First team all-conference pick in the Kishwaukee River rushed for over 1,000 yards for the second consecutive season.
Zach Morrisroe, Oswego East, senior, offensive/defensive line: Committed to NIU. Had 39.5 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Offensively had 16 pancake blocks.
Quinton Rome, Sandwich, senior, offensive line: First-team all-conference pick was a two-way starter.
Tim Young, Plano, senior, linebacker/running back: Two-way starter excelled on defense, leading Plano with 57 tackles. Young, who played offensive line before this year, also rushed for 656 yards. “His ability to transition seamlessly between offense and defense showcases his versatility and commitment to the team,” Plano coach Kyle Tutt said.
DEFENSE
Jeffrey Ashley, Sandwich, junior, linebacker: Two-time all-conference pick in the Kishwaukee River Conference led Indians in tackles with 80.
Jake Boissiere, Oswego East, senior, safety/linebacker: Two-time all-conference pick had 47.5 tackles and 7 tackles for loss.
Mikey Claycombe, Oswego, senior, linebacker: Southwest Prairie Conference West Division’s Defensive MVP and two-time all-conference pick. Claycombe had 99 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles and one pass deflection.
Carson Cooney, Oswego, senior, linebacker: Committed to Iowa. Illinois Football Coaches Assocation Class 8A All-State pick and all-conference selection. Cooney had 77 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three sacks, 14 quarterback hurries, two pass deflections and an interception. Offensively rushed for three touchdowns.
Lamari Hall, Oswego East, junior, linebacker: All-conference selection had 58.5 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks and 1 forced fumble.
Bryce Griffin, Yorkville, senior, defensive line: Committed to Kent State. Griffin had 53 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, four sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Nigel Grisby, Oswego East, senior, defensive back: Eastern Illinois recruit was a lockdown cornerback for Wolves' defense that allowed just 65 yards per game passing and was only thrown at 21 times all season. Grisby had nine pass breakups while giving up just six receptions, and also had 25 tackles and one forced fumble.
Jamarion Kenniel, Yorkville, senior, defensive line: Had 64 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Andy Pohlman, Oswego East, senior, safety: Pohlman had 71 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, three forced fumbles and 4 interceptions. Offensively had 20 catches for 364 yards and two TDs. Also had 20 punt returns for 242 yards. All-conference and honorable mention All-State.
Lincoln Reuterskiold, Yorkville, senior, defensive line: Had 63 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.
Easton Ruby, Oswego, senior, linebacker: All-conference linebacker had 68 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, four interceptions and six pass deflections.
Luke Zook, Yorkville, senior, safety/running back: Committed to Lindenwood. Zook had 49 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and an interception. Offensively had 48 carries for 350 yards and four TDs.
