Former St. Charles North standout Paolo Gennarelli named to The Associated Press All-American third team

Army sophomore offensive guard Paolo Gennarelli, a 2022 St. Charles North graduate, was named to The Associated Press All-America third team Monday.

Gennarelli (6-foot-1, 310 pounds) started in all 13 games at right guard this season for Army, who started the season 9-0 and were ranked as high as 18th on the AP Poll and 19th on the College Football Playoff rankings. The Black Knights, most well known for running a triple-option offense, have averaged 31.4 points per game this season.

On Dec. 13, Genarelli and the rest of the Black Knights offensive line were awarded the Joe Moore Award for being the most outstanding offensive line unit in college football. He was also named to the to the Sporting News Midseason All-America Team earlier in the season.

The Black Knights (11-2) will end their season on Dec. 28 against Louisiana Tech in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl.

Gennarelli was named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Class 7A All-State team in 2021 and named as an honorable mention while playing offensive and defensive line for the North Stars. He was also earned all-state honors in track and field (twice in shot put, once in discus).
