Sterling High School graduate Lucas Austin announced on social media Monday he is transferring to Virginia Tech to continue his football career.
The 6-foot-6, 287-pound offensive lineman did not appear in any games and redshirted for West Virginia this past season and will have four years of eligibility remaining.

The Mountaineers fired coach Neal Brown after finishing the 2024 season 6-6. He was replaced with Rich Rodriguez. Offensive line coach Matt Moore also was not retained and was hired by Virginia Tech.
The Hokies went 6-7 this past season and finished 4-4 in the ACC.
Austin had offers from Air Force, Army, Illinois State, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Southern Illinois and others coming out of high school.
